Dragon Ball Kai ep 79 - And So the Situation Turns for the Worst... Cell Strikes at #18!

Episode sources

Story
Vegeta decides his fight-boner is more important than the universe, so he'll let Cell evolve.
Kuririn decides the same thing, but about his real boner.
While #18 stands around gasping about how nice he is to her...
... and refusing to leave without #16, despite how much safer he'd be without her to protect.
This leaves Cell primed to assimilate #18 into himself, and become Perfect.

Except...

Trunks; He who is best known for leaving out critical information, acting rashly, screaming, and making situations always worse than they need to be, is the last line of defense (and common sense) against the beast known as Cell.

Motherfucking Trunks.

But even as Trunks throws a beatdown on Cell, he manages to finally spot where #18 and the others are hiding. And the chase is on.

(Trunks went into the Room of Spirit and Time a boy, but came out a goddamn man.)

But despite his valiant efforts, Cell slips away into the bowels of the Earth, suppressing his ki as he snakes his way over to #18 and Kuririn.

Like a goddamn Tremor.

Trunks makes a mad dash for Cell...
... but is stopped by Vegeta!

Meanwhile, in the Heavenly Realm...

".........."
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, I hate Vegeta."

Back at the battle, #18 isn't out of protectors yet!

Okay, well, now she is.

But this is the '90s! And sisters are doin' it for themselves! So 18 fights back!
It doesn't work out.

But don't count Trunks out yet! Vegeta tries to appeal to his son's sense as a warrior -- to spike the curiosity of battle in his Saiyan blood. But Trunks, having already lived through a Hellish future, has no interest. So Vegeta changes tact.

"You won't hit me! You're just a chicken!"
"CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP"
"CHEEP CHEEP"
"CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP"
"KEEP YOUR STUPID COMMENTS IN YOUR POCKET!!!"
"I can't believe he actually hit me."
"Maybe I do love him?"

Meanwhile, it's all #18 can do to keep herself from being absorbed by Cell.

Though, a certain lad named after underpants is capable of a good deal more.
I could seriously watch this all day.

As Trunks beats down on Cell, 18 and Kuririn make to leave with the injured 16.
But while getting his face beaten into a new shape, Cell came up with a strategy.
The same strategy he used last time he almost died.
The Taiyoken.

Now with everyone who might have stopped him blind and disoriented, Cell is free to take what he wants.

And the universe itself trembles.

Cell has become the ultimate, Perfect fighting being.
Power.
Speed.
Stamina.
And finally, a nose.

Also, Goku is focusing the time he and Gohan are in the RoSaT exclusively on training Gohan. But I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

What's cut?
In DBZ 159, Kame House gets a reaction shot to Cell's transformation, too.
In DBZ 160, Trunks has a crazy vision of Gohan and his mother dead.
And the devastation is all his fault.
Even Son Goku is dead.
With Cell standing above all.
(And scenes like this are why you watch DBZ instead of Kai.)
Also, Kame House gets flooded.
