Dragon Ball Kai ep 68 - And the Monster Goes Into Motion... Strike of the Super Namekian!

Episode sources

Story

After discovering the second, older time machine with the strange egg shell inside, Bulma and Trunks begin to discuss the attributes of Trunks' dead-beat dad. Gohan, completely uninterested in their dialogue, spies something else just a ways away.

A giant cicada husk.
"I just threw up in my mouth a little."

Meanwhile, #18 checks out a clothing shop deep in the boonies.

She doesn't like the cowboy clothes, but decides to steal them anyway.
Also, their food truck's license plate is seriously 69 69.
More efficient than any police force in history, the Sheriff's department comes after the Artificial Humans... again.
To which 18 pulls their engines apart, with the grace of a swan.
PS all the officers live.
For those keeping score, Vegeta is still the main villain so far.

But Vegeta's kill count is about to be put to the test as Bulma catches a strange news report - Gingertown, which is the closest major settlement to where they discovered the second time machine, is suddenly lost all its inhabitants. Sensing trouble, Bulma calls over to Kame House, so Kuririn and the others (with Gohan and Trunks arriving in the middle of it) can see the disturbing footage for themselves.

Suddenly, even the news feed goes black...
... and on another channel, only this chilling footage remains.

Kami, from his perch in the Heavenly Realm, watches with bated breath. His worst fears about the true threat to Earth have come true. But rather than tell Piccolo about it, Kami turns to offer his young counterpart exactly what he came for - albeit for a totally different reason.

Once more, Kami and Daimao shall be one.

"Right now what the Earth needs is not a God, but a mighty warrior. Piccolo has changed. The evil in his heart has mostly disappeared. Once we merge, it is unlikely we will ever need to divide again."
"Thank you for all your help, Mr. Popo."
"... Farewell, Kami-sama. Don't die."
"I am neither Kami nor Piccolo any longer. I am a Namekian who has long since forgotten his real name."
"Well... Off I go."

Back at Kame House, Trunks gets chills as he watches the news with the others. Unable to stand it, he decides to leave for Gingertown himself to investigate, leaving Gohan and the others to protect Goku should the Artificial Humans pay Kame House a visit.

But before Trunks can leave, the Nameless Namekian has already arrived at Gingertown.

"So, you've finally decided to show yourself..."
"... monster?"

What's cut?
In DBZ 140, Muten Roshi reminds everyone that he's tough too.
Oolong isn't buying it.
Also in 140, #18 tries to get inside #16's head.
