Dragon Ball Z ep 175 - Those Who Would Challenge Cell!! The Curtain Rises on the Battle

Because the Dragon Balls can bring multiple people back to life with a single wish, the rule about only bringing someone back to life once still applies.

The Cell Games have at last arrived...
... and so has the world champion, Mr. Satan
And he's talkin' all kinds of shit.

Vegeta is the next to arrive.
Then, #16
And finally, Son Goku and the rest.

16 thanks Kuririn to bringing him to get repairs. Goku tries to introduce himself to 16, and 16 responds by reminding him he was built to kill him. Goku decides he'll be the first to enter the ring against Cell. Mr. Satan doesn't think amateurs like them (who he accuses of using a trick to appear to fly to the arena) should get to pick the order.

Then he busts a rock over his head to prove his strength.

Seems legit.

  1. I'm loving your commentary on Mr. Satan, which is doing nothing more than making me excited for future commentary on the Buu Saga. He talked so much shit since his debut and it only gets funnier in the Buu Saga, lmao. I'm also anticipating your commentary on Goku's actions (both his decision to back down and also his choosing to stay dead for the world's safety) as well. :D

    1. What exactly is wrong with Goku's decision to stay dead for the earth's safety? Back at 2012, I talk it over with my second eldest brother and he thought it was the most altruistic decision anyone could make.

    2. I don't see anything wrong with Goku's decision. In fact, I thought it was incredibly noble and selfless of him to make such a sacrifice. I've always viewed it as him righting his wrong due to him apologizing to Gohan and his wife (via Gohan) seconds before. It certainly shows that he loves them, as this isn't the second time he's sacrificed his life to save them, specifically Gohan.

There are just COUNTLESS one-sided and close-minded fans out there who saw it as Goku abandoning his family, which would be dumb and incredibly OOC for Goku had that been the case. But yeah, lol, I never faulted Goku for his decision. It takes balls to make a sacrifice like that.

    3. His decision would have actually meant something if the series ended when it needed to but since it didn't... it often gets written off as just abandonment (doesn't help that the following major arc as a whole doesn't exactly portray him in the best of light). :P

BTW I don't think Goku apologized to Gohan, all I remember is him telling Gohan he did a good job. I do remember him apologizing to Chi-Chi, however (toppled off with TOEI's "Support Goku x Chi-Chi" tricks).

    4. My opinion never changed on Goku's decision to stay dead. A lot of people argued that the villains weren't even after Goku, but the only villain (major one anyway) who wasn't after Goku was Majin Buu and co., but even Majin Buu was after Goku in a sense that it (or he...?) wanted to fight and kill those with the highest power level.

I admit that the Buu Saga was all over the place, but I still like it a lot more than the Cell Saga. I don't think of Goku in a bad light for leaving to train Uub, though just up and leaving makes me angry. But like some people suggest, I don't see it as Goku leaving his friends and family for good. I know that Neko Majin Z isn't canon or anything, but I like to think that Goku moved his training of Uub to his home and stayed with his family. Goku leaving at the end was a way of Toriyama saying good-bye to his fans since Goku is the main character and all (of course, this isn't true, but it's the way I see it). That's not to say that he is a grade A+ character (this Saga is a testament of that as well as all of them).

Haha, I'm a hardcore supporter of Goku/Chi-Chi. Hell, those two, no matter how long they're apart, always gravitate to each other. I love them. XD

    5. I'm a minor Goku/Chi-Chi supporter, myself..... well maybe not but I do like the characters. The filler probably helps in making their relationship seem more believable, although I think they're better off with other people.

BTW It's quite clear that Majin Boo is a male (Cell is genderless, however), he's referred to as one and he was waiting to fight Gohan (who is the strongest non-fused character by that point).
