Dragon Ball Z ep 164 - A Future in Despair!! Trunks, the Man Who Lived Through Hell

It's a flash back episode!

Trunks charges the depths of his ki in order to go far beyond Super Saiyan. Cell patiently waits for him to be done, eager to test the limits of his Perfect form against this new foe. (In other words, they look at each other and charge up while panning to reaction shots for the first 5 minutes of this episode.)

Trunks swears to absolutely defeat Cell... determined to make sure this future doesn't turn out the same as the apocalypse of his own time.

Trunks comes from a Hellish world, where the Artificial Humans run rampant.

Vegeta,

Piccolo,

Kuririn,

Tenshinhan,

Yamcha,

and even Yajirobe were each killed by the monstrous pair.

Trunks and Son Gohan were the only heroes that remained.

(Oh look it's a flash back within a flash back. I guess Naruto really was inspired by DBZ.)

While Trunks agonizes over his own timeline, Cell reminisces about his humble beginnings.

Born in the laboratory of Dr. Gero...

Made from the DNA of the universe's strongest fighters... Son Goku,

Piccolo,

Vegeta,

and Freeza.

And terror he wrought.

Now that he is Perfect, Cell is eager to push his new body to its very limits. And Trunks is happy to oblige.

After a furious duel between the two super powers, Cell makes a startling proclamation! Trunks has surpassed him utterly... yet he absolutely cannot win!
