Dragon Ball Z ep 132 - Give Chase!! The Search for Dr. Gero's Mysterious Laboratory

Artificial Human #20 is not having a good day. His partner, #19, was blown to smithereens by a Vegeta who was much, much more powerful than their data suggested. And he has just been utterly beaten by a Piccolo who knows his every weakness. Furthermore, an additional human-Saiyan, Trunks, has arrived whom he has no data on whatsoever. (More on why this doesn't make since once Cell appears...) His only recourse is to do the unthinkable... Return to Dr. Gero's laboratory and awaken Artificial Humans #17 and #18.

But fate gives 20 one last reprieve as he spots Bulma flying overhead in her Airship... And as Piccolo, Trunks, Vegeta, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Gohan discuss Trunks' startling revelation that the two cyborgs they've been fighting aren't the same cyborgs from his future, 20 takes a shot a Bulma, Yajirobe, and baby Trunks!!

"#17 and #18 will be coming soon to kill you all!!!"

(Yo dawg, I heard you like Trunks.)

Trunks gets mad at Vegeta for not coming to baby Trunks and Bulma's rescue, and Vegeta gets mad at Trunks for not telling the whole truth three years ago. Bulma proclaims that #20 is actually Dr. Gero, which further piles onto the lies told by Trunks (who told Goku, and by extension Piccolo, that Dr. Gero was killed by the Artificial Humans). Trunks figures that time must have shifted more dramatically than just Goku's heart condition, and so Piccolo asks for all the information on the mysterious 17 and 18 he can give.

So here goes.

They look like a teenage boy and girl.
One wears a scarf, the other a denim jacket.
They don't absorb energy, but they have unlimited energy.
Yes. They never, ever run out of energy.

(Wouldn't this have been key points to tell everyone when you last came back in time, Trunks? jfc.)

Bulma tells everyone about Dr. Gero's laboratory, and how he is considered a brilliant but anti-social scientist in Dr. Brief's academic circle. With a general idea of where his laboratory is, Vegeta takes off to fight 17 and 18. Piccolo figures it would be a good idea to kill them before they're turned on, and since Dr. Gero is likely using the mountain terrain to run back to the lab, they have the jump on him... but Vegeta insists he would never do anything that cowardly. He intends to let Dr. Gero turn them on so he can fight them fair and square.

"You must not! You underestimate the Artificial Humans!"
("JUST BEIN' A DICK!")

Piccolo briefly wonders whether or not Vegeta might succeed, as he has surpassed even Son Goku in power. But Trunks insists the Artificial Humans are beyond them (then why the fuck did you tell them to train for three years???) and that Piccolo's strategy is for the best. But he flies off after his father in a rage anyway because whaaaaa daddy issues.

Bulma doesn't understand so Piccolo spells it out for her and everyone: That baby and that teenager are the same person. (They cry just as much.)

With that out of the way, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, and Kuririn make to find the lab before Gero or Vegeta, and destroy 17 and 18 before they're switched on.

Gohan carries Yajirobe, Bulma, and Trunks home.
(A good task for the only person who is supposed to survive the fight against the Artificial Humans. jfc.)

  2. then why the fuck did you tell them to train for three years???

I don't believe he did tell them that, and even if they would be outmatched, some training is better than none.
