Dragon Ball Z ep 126 - Murderers Who Leave No Trace -- Which Ones Are the Artificial Humans?!

Gohan, Goku, and Piccolo race toward an island southeast of Metro South, where Trunks said that the Artificial Humans will appear at 10am. It has been three years of intense training for the trio. Piccolo can't shake a foreboding feeling, and envies Son Goku's carefree attitude about the whole affair. Though Goku does warn Piccolo to take it easy... because, y'know, Dragon Balls die if he dies. The trio then take bets as to which of the humans will die first this time. (2 to 1 odds favor Yamcha.)

Mid-air, they meet up with Kuririn.
(And he doesn't like his odds.)
("You didn't have to bet against me, Gohan."
"Sorry, but Tenshinhan has the Kikoho.")

Our heroes land on the island, only to find it is covered in a densely populated city. Gohan worries they might have casualties once the fighting really starts up. (Pretty dark thought for a 10 year old.) They meet up with Yamcha and Tenshinhan, who have already arrived.

And Bulma is there, with a baby.

Gohan and Kuririn congratulate Yamcha, which only rubs salt on his wounded heart. This infant is none other than Trunks, the Super Saiyan son of Vegeta, from the future... but in the present. (Maybe it would have been Yamcha's kid if he hadn't have two-timed Bulma with all those other women he was afraid of.*)

"Your daddy is Vegeta, huh, Trunks?"
"How do you know that?"
"Uh, yeah, it was just sort of a hunch, y'know? ... I mean his face looks like Vegeta's."
"You even guessed his name."
"Wow, awesome! I-I wonder if I have psychic powers?!"

Smooth.

Just then, Yajirobe arrives with Senzu Beans, compliments of Karin-sama.

"You're going to fight too, Yajirobe?!"
"lol no"

But as Yajirobe leaves in his Air Car, he is suddenly shot down by an energy blast that nobody senses! Then it occurs to our heroes... Artificial Humans don't have ki...!!!

Thanks for not saying anything... dick.

So our heroes rush off into the city below, splitting up to track down the silent killer cyborgs!

 "Beep boop beep."
Introducing Artificial Humans #19 and #20.

"My data suggests that you matched your pants with your mustache."

"My data suggests that you are having engine troubles."
"See? Your engine is leaking."
"My data suggests you are ungrateful."

And it's none other than Yamcha who spots the dangerous duo!
"My data suggests that you're a bitch."
(Looks like Gohan owes his dad and Piccolo money.)

*of course the world would be doomed, because Yamcha's kid would be the only hero left in Future Earth.

Hey, we don't know that for sure- oh who am I kidding, that's a perfectly valid point.

  2. I'm glad I got to grow up watching this without cynicism (even in how much I really hated the dubbing) because Yamucha getting run-through like REALLY UPSET ME. Just like, "No, that's not supposed to happen, screw you guys."

At least we got more Yajirobe out of this bit. There's one good thing.

  3. I'm not sure what there is to hate about this episode. It's far from the worst. It's not the best but it's hardly at the bottom of the list. There's some good tension.

Oh, and in the Manga, Dr. Gero (spoilers) doesn't take that one driver by the neck and pull him out of his car, he squeezes the guy's neck so hard, his head pops off, which is arguably the most violent thing Toriyama has ever drawn. Good to see you back, Biba-sennin.

  4. There's nothing to hate about this episode. Actually, I love it. There's no fighting at all, but is one of the most tense episodes, imo. It's a shame they never showed with much detail what exactly happened in this day in the alternate timeline, but that would be hella depressing. It's so gloomy to think how Dragon Ball would had gone if it weren't for a time traveler changing history, after all we went through.
Btw, the Island looks really beautiful. Pity it's destined to be destroyed by Artificial Humans no matter what.
